Why is Bioware making a Star Wars MMO and not a Knights of the Old Republic 3?

Well they didn't make the second so it wouldn't even be certain that they'd make the third. I believe it's rumored that the third is in development but those are just rumours although Obsidian the developers that made the second said they would like to make KOTOR 3. I think Bioware maybe wanted to try something different and I'm sure Lucasarts was looking into getting back into the MMO space after Galaxies underperformed and so that's why they made an MMO instead. I personally would've preferred Bioware had made the third instead of an MMO.Why is Bioware making a Star Wars MMO and not a Knights of the Old Republic 3?
I played Kotor 2 over 20 times because its a great game. It is a shame that they dont continue the story, the new star wars MMO looks great though. =/
